The National Association of REALTORS® has named 20 participants for its 2027 Leadership Academy, a 10-month program designed to prepare Realtor volunteers for future association leadership. Representing 16 states and bringing an average of more than 13 years of real estate experience, the class will begin training in January and complete the program at NAR NXT in November 2027.

Key takeaways

  • The 2027 class includes 20 Realtors from 16 states.
  • The program runs from January through November 2027 and focuses on NAR’s history, structure and operations.
  • Since the academy began in 2008, more than 300 people have graduated, many going on to serve in association leadership roles.

A program for future association leaders

NAR’s Leadership Academy is intended to prepare Realtor volunteers to take on leadership responsibilities at local, state and national levels. Participants will learn how the national association works, including its history, structure and internal operations.

NAR President Kevin Brown welcomed the incoming class, saying its members bring experience and perspectives from communities across the country. He said the academy will help them prepare to serve members, shape the association’s future and contribute to the real estate industry.

Alumni have taken on leadership roles

Since the academy was established in 2008, more than 300 participants have graduated. More than 160 alumni have chaired an NAR committee or volunteer group, while 98 have served as state association presidents and 39 as NAR regional vice presidents.

Graduates have also reached senior positions on NAR’s Leadership Team. Alumni cited include Immediate Past President Kevin Sears, a 2008 graduate; President-elect Christine Hansen, a 2009 graduate; Vice President of Advocacy Asa Fleming, who graduated in 2014; and First Vice President Colin Mullane, a 2015 graduate.
