Miami Beach has officially commenced a significant $29.4 million construction project aimed at revitalizing Lincoln Road. This initiative will expand the popular pedestrianized area and introduce a new outdoor performance venue, promising to enhance the vibrant cultural and commercial hub.

Key Takeaways

  • A section of Drexel Avenue will be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone.
  • A new outdoor performance space is set to be constructed at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Drexel Avenue.
  • The project includes upgrades to paving, lighting, and the addition of new café seating and landscaping.
  • Completion is anticipated within approximately one year.

Expanding the Pedestrian Experience

The project’s most notable feature is the pedestrianization of Drexel Avenue, specifically the stretch between Lincoln Lane South and Lincoln Lane North. This expansion is designed to create a more expansive and accessible environment for visitors and residents alike, further solidifying Lincoln Road’s status as a premier destination.

New Cultural Amenities

Adding to the area’s appeal, a new outdoor performance space will be built at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Drexel Avenue. This venue is expected to host a variety of events, enriching the cultural landscape of Miami Beach and providing a new platform for artists.

Enhancements and Upgrades

Beyond the expanded pedestrian zone and performance space, the project encompasses a comprehensive upgrade of existing infrastructure. This includes new paving and lighting to improve aesthetics and functionality, as well as the creation of new café seating areas to encourage leisurely enjoyment. The addition of more trees and plants will also contribute to a greener and more inviting atmosphere.

Project Timeline and Oversight

This undertaking is part of Phase 2 of Lincoln Road’s ongoing rebuild, with work also scheduled for Meridian Avenue in a separate phase. Field Operations is overseeing the design aspects of the project. Construction is expected to take about a year to complete, with residents and businesses anticipating the revitalized Lincoln Road.
