American Furniture Rentals is extending the life of its rental inventory by donating 143 furnishings and household items to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. The contribution, weighing an estimated 5,657 pounds, supports welcoming spaces across the organization’s network while advancing AFR’s sustainability and community-investment efforts.

Key takeaways

  • AFR donated 143 furniture and household items, totaling about 5,657 pounds.
  • The donation supports 39 Boys & Girls Clubs locations in Central Florida.
  • Items include seating, tables, appliances, electronics, lighting, rugs, artwork and mirrors.
  • The partnership is designed as an annual commitment.

The donation reflects a coordinated effort to provide practical resources for youth-serving organizations while keeping usable goods out of the waste stream.

A broad range of household items

The contribution includes upholstered seating, dining and accent tables, household appliances, televisions, other electronics, lighting, area rugs, artwork and mirrors. Together, the items can help Clubs furnish activity areas and create comfortable, functional environments for children and teens.

Rather than discarding furniture after its rental service, AFR is redirecting items that remain useful to community organizations. The approach gives the inventory a second purpose and may help participating Clubs meet furnishing needs more efficiently.

Annual partnership supports 39 Club locations

AFR formalized its partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida in May 2026. The arrangement is structured as an annual commitment and covers the organization’s network of 39 Central Florida locations.

AFR provides the donated furnishings, pays delivery costs and works directly with participating Clubs to coordinate logistics. Additional donation days may be scheduled as demand changes and inventory becomes available.

Focus on youth and sustainability

Jimish Kothari, AFR’s chief asset management officer, said the partnership reflects the company’s belief that responsible business practices and community investment can reinforce one another. He emphasized that furniture retaining value after its rental life can benefit young people, local communities and the environment.

Jamie Merrill, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, said the organization appreciates AFR’s investment. The donated items are expected to help create spaces where Club members can learn, connect and develop.

AFR also tracks its furniture donations and related environmental impact as part of its annual sustainability reporting. The initiative demonstrates how inventory reuse can combine charitable support with waste reduction.

Distinct organizational relationships

AFR maintains separate commercial relationships with other independently operated Boys & Girls Club chapters. Those business arrangements are distinct from the Central Florida donation partnership and are not part of the charitable contribution described here.
