Brightline has launched a new dual network service in the Miami area, introducing a dedicated short-haul train route between Miami and West Palm Beach. This significant enhancement aims to improve travel frequency and efficiency for local commuters and travelers within the region, alongside its existing long-distance services.

Key Takeaways

  • A new train service operates exclusively on the short-haul route between Miami and West Palm Beach.
  • Pricing has been adjusted with fixed peak and off-peak fares.
  • Train departures are now more frequent, especially during peak hours.
  • Dedicated capacity for short-distance travel has been increased.

Expanded Short-Distance Network

As of October 6, Brightline’s new service focuses on providing a more robust option for travel between Miami and West Palm Beach. This dedicated short-haul route ensures greater reliability and convenience for passengers making these specific journeys. The company has also revamped its pricing strategy, introducing distinct peak and off-peak fares that are set at fixed times. For instance, off-peak fares between Miami and West Palm Beach were observed to be as low as $19.

Increased Frequency and Capacity

To accommodate the growing demand and the new service structure, Brightline has significantly increased train frequency. During peak times, trains now depart approximately every 30 minutes on the Miami to West Palm Beach route. In total, there are now 36 short-distance departures daily. Of these, 16 trains, offering 4,450 seats, are exclusively designated for short-distance travel. This dedicated capacity ensures that local travelers have priority and readily available options.

Long-Distance Service Integration

Brightline continues to operate its long-distance services to and from Orlando, with 20 daily departures. These long-distance trains also accommodate short-distance passengers, providing flexibility for travelers with varied destinations. The company is further bolstering its capacity, with additional train cars scheduled for delivery by the end of the year. This influx, combined with recent deliveries, is expected to nearly double the long-distance seat capacity compared to the previous year, promising a more comfortable and accommodating experience for all passengers.
