Emerge Broward Announces 2025 Board Engagement Program Participants
Emerge Broward is excited to unveil the 23 dynamic individuals selected to participate in its 2025 Board Engagement Program. This initiative is designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders by providing invaluable board service experience across various non-profit organizations in Broward County.
What is the Board Engagement Program?
The Board Engagement Program, delivered in partnership with the Community Foundation of Broward, equips participants with essential skills for effective governance and board service. Attendees receive comprehensive training that covers:
- The role and responsibilities of a board member
- Fundamentals of non-profit governance
- Industry best practices for board effectiveness
By the program’s end, participants are strategically matched with a non-profit organization for a one-year board term, enabling them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in real-world settings.
Why This Matters
Andrew Caksackkar, Board President and Project Manager at Florida Power and Light, emphasizes the importance of these emerging leaders:
“These young leaders are stepping up to serve with purpose, represent the next generation of decision-makers, and help shape a stronger South Florida.”
He highlights the caliber of talent produced through this year’s program, spanning various industries, indicating a robust future for Broward’s non-profit sector.
Support from the Community Foundation of Broward
The Community Foundation of Broward plays a pivotal role in this initiative. Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, President/CEO, states:
"Dynamic leadership is critical to the Community Foundation of Broward’s work to champion philanthropy that builds community and opportunity here in Broward. We are thrilled to support Emerge Broward’s efforts, which help develop the next generation of talented board leaders who reflect our community’s rich diversity."
